Tour Overview: The Grand Northern Circuit

Our 5 Days 4 Nights safari offers a truly comprehensive exploration of Tanzania's celebrated Northern Circuit, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in four distinct and spectacular national parks. You'll then experience the breathtaking wildlife concentration within the Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and conclude with the diverse ecosystems and birdlife of Lake Manyara National Park.

This itinerary provides ample time for extensive game drives, ensuring a rich and varied experience of East Africa's most remarkable wildlife spectacles and stunning landscapes.

Day 1: Arusha to Tarangire National Park

Your safari begins with an early morning pick-up from your Arusha hotel. A comfortable drive brings you to Tarangire National Park, where your Maasai Spirit Expedition guide will swiftly handle entry formalities. You’ll then embark on a full day of game driving, exploring Tarangire’s distinctive landscape, characterized by ancient baobab trees and its famed large elephant herds gathering along the river. You’ll search for lions, leopards, giraffes, zebras, and various antelopes. A delicious packed lunch will be served in the park. In the late afternoon, you’ll drive to a lodge or tented camp in Karatu, situated near the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Karatu to Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, your journey continues towards the world-renowned Serengeti National Park. The drive takes you through the stunning Ngorongoro Conservation Area, often with a brief stop at the Olduvai Gorge Museum (optional). As you enter the Serengeti’s seemingly endless plains, the excitement builds. You’ll embark on an afternoon game drive in the central Seronera region, famous for its year-round abundance of big cats and plains game. This vast park offers unparalleled opportunities to witness predators and their prey in action. As evening approaches, you’ll head to your chosen lodge or tented camp within the Serengeti for dinner and overnight, surrounded by the sounds of the African wilderness.

Day 3: Full Day Serengeti National Park

Today is dedicated to a full day of unparalleled game viewing in the magnificent Serengeti National Park. After an early breakfast, you’ll set out for extensive game drives, traversing different sections of the park. Depending on the season, your guide will expertly navigate to areas where wildlife concentrations are highest, particularly if the Great Migration is present. You’ll spend hours observing lion prides, stealthy leopards, cheetahs, immense herds of wildebeest and zebras, giraffes, buffalo, and a rich diversity of birdlife. A picnic lunch will be enjoyed in the heart of the bush. As the day progresses, you’ll continue to explore, ensuring you capture the essence of this extraordinary ecosystem, returning to your Serengeti accommodation for dinner and another night under the stars.

Day 4: Serengeti National Park to Ngorongoro Crater Rim

After a final early morning game drive in the Serengeti and a late breakfast, you’ll begin your scenic drive towards the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Your journey takes you up to the majestic rim of the Ngorongoro Crater. You’ll have time to soak in the incredible panoramic views of the caldera below before checking into your lodge or tented camp located either on the crater rim or in the nearby Karatu area. The afternoon is spent at leisure, perhaps enjoying the views or preparing for the next day’s descent. Dinner and overnight will be at your chosen accommodation, offering breathtaking vistas.

Day 5: Ngorongoro Crater Game Drive to Lake Manyara to Arusha

Today begins with an early start as you descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for an unforgettable game drive. This UNESCO World Heritage site boasts the highest concentration of wildlife in Africa, offering exceptional opportunities to spot the “Big Five” and countless other species within its natural boundaries. After an extensive morning game drive and a picnic lunch on the crater floor, you’ll ascend the crater walls and drive to Lake Manyara National Park. You’ll enjoy a final game drive through Manyara’s diverse habitats, from groundwater forests to the lake itself, famous for its flamingos and tree-climbing lions.
