Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Arusha to Tarangire National Park
Your safari begins with an early morning pick-up from your Arusha hotel, followed by a comfortable drive to Tarangire National Park. Upon arrival, your Maasai Spirit Expedition guide will swiftly handle park entry formalities, and you’ll embark on a full day of exhilarating game viewing. Tarangire is famed for its immense elephant population and unique baobab tree scenery. You’ll traverse the park, observing these magnificent creatures alongside zebras, wildebeest, giraffes, and various predators gathering around the life-giving Tarangire River. A packed lunch will be enjoyed in the bush. In the late afternoon, you’ll drive to a lodge or tented camp in Karatu, located near the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Ngorongoro Crater Game Drive
Today is dedicated to exploring the breathtaking Ngorongoro Crater. After an early breakfast, you’ll drive to the crater rim for spectacular panoramic views before making the thrilling descent 600 meters to the crater floor. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is an extraordinary wildlife haven, boasting an incredible concentration of animals including lions, elephants, buffalo, zebras, wildebeest, and a high probability of spotting the elusive black rhino. You’ll enjoy an extensive game drive within this natural amphitheater, with a picnic lunch served on the crater floor. In the late afternoon, you will ascend the crater walls and return to your lodge in Karatu for dinner and overnight, reflecting on the day’s awe-inspiring encounters.
Day 3: Lake Manyara National Park to Arusha
After breakfast, you’ll head to Lake Manyara National Park. This diverse park, nestled at the base of the Great Rift Valley escarpment, offers a stark contrast to the previous days. Your game drive will take you through groundwater forests, where you might spot large troops of baboons and blue monkeys, and then out to the open grasslands and the lake itself. Lake Manyara is a birdwatcher’s paradise, famous for its seasonal flamingo populations and a variety of waterfowl. You’ll also search for elephants, giraffes, and if you’re lucky, the park’s elusive tree-climbing lions. After a packed lunch within the park, you’ll begin your journey back to Arusha, arriving in the late afternoon, concluding your memorable Northern Circuit adventure.
