Packing for a safari can feel daunting, but it doesn’t have to be! The key to a comfortable and enjoyable Tanzanian safari is bringing the right gear. Our goal at Maasai Spirit Expedition is to ensure you’re perfectly prepared for every moment, from the dusty game drives to the cool evenings by the campfire. This comprehensive checklist, refined through years of experience in the bush, will guide you on what to pack, why it’s important, and how to pack smart.

Footwear
- Sturdy, comfortable shoes, preferably waterproof. They will get dirty.
- Tennis shoes or sandals for lounging in the evening
- Comfortable, breathable socks
Baggage
- Day pack, for you to carry
- Large duffel bag or backpack
Sleeping, for camping safaris
- Sleeping bag
- Sleeping pad and repair kit
- Tents are supplied by Zara at no charge
- Foam sleeping pads are provided by Maasai Spirit Expedition at no charge
Toiletries
- Toilet paper (and baggie to carry used paper while walking)
- Small towel

- U-shaped neck pillow (blow-up)
