The Lemosho Route

The Lemosho Route – 6, 7 & 8 Days Overview

The Lemosho Route is widely regarded as the most scenic trail on Mount Kilimanjaro, offering panoramic views, rich biodiversity, and a gradual ascent profile that maximizes acclimatization. Beginning on the western side of the mountain, the route passes through pristine rainforest, rolling moorlands, and dramatic alpine deserts before joining the Machame trail near Lava Tower. From there, climbers tackle iconic landmarks such as the Barranco Wall and Karanga Valley, culminating in the final push to Uhuru Peak—the highest point in Africa.

The 6-day itinerary is designed for strong trekkers seeking a faster ascent, while the 7-day option adds an extra day for improved acclimatization and higher summit success rates. The 8-day itinerary provides the most relaxed pace, allowing ample time to adjust to altitude and fully enjoy the diverse landscapes along the way.

Whether you choose 6, 7, or 8 days, the Lemosho Route combines adventure, challenge, and breathtaking scenery, making it one of the most rewarding ways to experience Kilimanjaro.
