Upon arrival in Materuni, you’ll be warmly greeted by members of the local Chagga community. Your friendly local guide will lead you on a leisurely and incredibly rewarding hike through lush coffee and banana plantations and dense forest. The path is scenic and relatively gentle, allowing you to appreciate the vibrant greenery and the sounds of nature. The highlight of this trek is reaching the stunning Materuni Waterfall, a majestic cascade that plunges into a crystal-clear pool below. You’ll have ample time here to admire the waterfall’s beauty, feel the refreshing spray, and for those who dare, take a invigorating dip in the cool waters at the base of the falls.

After soaking in the natural beauty of the waterfall, you’ll return to the village for the highly anticipated coffee experience. Here, the local Chagga people will welcome you to their homestead and introduce you to the traditional process of coffee production, from bean to cup. You’ll learn about the cultivation of coffee plants and then actively participate in each step:
